New winter research - top 5 tickers by website's traffic growth over November

Hey-hey! New Year's eve is closer and closer. Our team decided to conduct research on the growth alternative data metrics for all US public companies over November to let your end-of-the-year investments decisions be more balanced and data-driven.

Before we start, we recommend you quickly review our 2 previous posts on the companies with the highest insiders buying activity in November, and those who hired most employees in November.

It's a common knowledge that the more traffic you get to the website, regardless of the industry, the more opportunities you have to add new customers - it's a great indicator of public companies' performance over the Web. We have been collecting the websites traffic data from SimilarWeb and Alexa sources for all US public companies, and below you can see the top 5 stocks by their website's traffic growth:

1. The Original BARK Company ($BARK) - a dog-centric company, provides products, services, and content for dogs.

The $BARK stock has been down for almost a year, but will it be the second breath for it? The traders were also more optimistic about this stock over the last few months:

2. Vail Resorts Inc. ($MTN) - the company operates mountain resorts and urban ski areas in the United States.

Shares of Vail Resorts slipped down nearly 5% in the after-hours trading session on Thursday, December 9, after its fiscal first-quarter revenue came in below expectations:

Negative investor sentiments were witnessed as the company stated concerns regarding the delayed openings and limited open terrain across many of its resorts, leading to a potential negative impact on the North American ski season:

3. Quanterix Corporation ($QTRX) - a life sciences company, develops and markets digital immunoassay platforms that advances precision health for life sciences research and diagnostics in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions.

On November 17th, the $QTRX announced it has been recognized on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the 500 fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, fintech, and energy tech companies in North America. This marks the fourth consecutive year Quanterix has been named to the Technology Fast 500. However, the stock is being actively shorted over the last few months:

4. COMPASS Pathways plc ($CMPS) - a mental health care company in the United Kingdom and the United States. It develops COMP360, a psilocybin formulation that is in Phase IIb clinical trial to treat patients with treatment-resistant depression.

Earlier in Novmeber, the $CMPS made two announcements weighed on the stock price, and both were mostly positive: the first was related to its lead therapy for treatment-resistant depression - company said its phase IIB clinical trial of its COMP360 psilocybin therapy for depression showed that at its highest dosage (25mg), COMP360 found a reduction in depressive symptoms after three weeks; the second announcement was the company's Q3 earnings report - within nine months, it lost $46.1 million, or $1.17 per share, compared with a loss of $41.5 million, or $3.90 a share in the same period in 2020.

It was a classic case of investors selling into positive news that drove the biotech stock down. It might be bad news for short-term investors, since from that time the stock hasn't been nearly even $30, but long-term traders have positive attitude on it:

5. Fisker Inc. ($FSR) - the company focuses on design, development, manufacture, and sale of electric vehicles.

The month of November changed investors' perceptions as the company not only revealed its first all-electric vehicle, but also gave out crucial details about pricing and production timelines, among other things, that's why the price rocketed more than 30%:

To sum up the research, we can see that the website traffic has doubled, or almost tripled for some of the companies. What are your thoughts about it? Can such indirect data metrics as website traffic affect the stock's price in the future?
